Information about the Willkommen Competition, 2023
Dear colleagues and students,
You are sincerely invited to participate as associates and partners this year as well, in the 11th International Willkommen Foreign Language Competition.
The following students are eligible to participate:
Primary school students who learn English language as the first foreign language (first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth year of study)
Primary school students who learn German and French as the second foreign language
(first, second, third and fourth year of study)
Secondary school students who learn English language as the first foreign language
(first/ninth, second/tenth, third/eleventh and fourth/twelfth year of study)
Secondary school students who learn German language as a foreign language
(first/fifth, second/sixth, third/seventh and fourth/eighth year of study)
Special categories are not the part of the competition.
Rules of competition organization
First round will be held on 4th March, 2023
Tests will be prepared for two options: both online and for school desks
Second round will be held on 22nd April, 2023
Third round will be held on 25th May, 2023
Private and state schools, educational centers and language schools have the right to participate and be partners in the competition.
How can schools and individuals apply?
Schools which want to participate, shall fill in the school registration form and apply students through online application and application forms. The student for whom the registration fee has been paid, will be accounted as a verified competitor.
Registration is possible through the online application platform. The costs of participation can be borne by the student, school or municipality.
If a student wants to apply independently of his/her school, he/she should do so through our online platform at: login.willkommen.org.rs.
After the application deadline, all candidates receive more detailed information about the exam.

Note: Relatives of the coordinator’s competition organizers cannot participate in the competition.
Why to participate?
1. Students
All participating students receive the certificate of participation in an international competition.
Students who achieve notable results get the opportunity to win valuable prizes: a prize trip (depending upon current COVID situation), cash prizes (or at the request of the awarded student, books and foreign language courses, educational courses or Amazon vouchers in the obtained value of the prize).
2. Teachers
All teachers receive certificates of participation in the international competition.
All teachers and professors participating in the project get the opportunity to participate in other international projects and trainings.
Teachers and professors who participate in the preparation of students and the organization of the competition receive 18 points for professional development within institutions – valid for Serbia.
3. Schools
Partner schools receive letters of thanks for participating in the international project. Schools that apply for more than 100 students receive a dictionary for the school library. Participation/Membership
The participation/membership for participants from Serbia is 700 RSD, and for participants from other countries 7 euros.

Until when can I apply?
Registration is possible until 1st March, 2023.
How and where does the exam material arrive?
Students will be informed in a timely manner about the schedule and the manner of realization of the competition on our platform.
Time of realization of the competition
Testing is realized on 4th March, 2023. Online or in school desks.

Tests are made according to CERF for each level of study
First round
The tests for the first round consist of three parts: reading comprehension (choosing one of the given answers), language in use and an essay, which is eliminatory in case two or more best students have the same number of maximum points.
In case two students have the same number of maximum points, the essay, which is of an eliminatory character, is reviewed, for first, second and third place.
In case two or more students have the same number of points on the test and the essay, a conversation is organized through our online platform.
In order for the contestants to have more motivation to compete, up to 10% of the best placed contestants in each category go to the Second Round
The list of students whose results earned them the right to participate in the second (semi- final) round will be published on the website www.willkommen.org.rs.

Second round
The test for the second round or semi-final round is organized online and consists of three parts: listening, reading comprehension and essay, which is eliminatory in case two or more best students have the same number of maximum points .
Details about testing in the finals will be published later on our website www.willkommen.org.rs.
Examples of tests will be published on our website and can serve as guidelines in preparation of the students. Students can also find professional help in preparing for the competition on our online learning platform.
The results of the best placed students will be published on our website www.willkommen.org.rs.
Willkommen reserves the right to disqualify a student if competition rules are violated.
If two or more students have the same number of points, the essay will be evaluated and it will be of an eliminatory character. If two or more students have the same number of points on both the test and the essay, an online, live conversation testing will be organized through the online platform.
Students whose native language is English, German or French or who have spent more than three years in a language-speaking area of a particular language are not eligible to participate in the Willkommen competition.
Special categories are not the part of the competition.

Third/Final round
Final round will be organized online. Detailed information on the manner and schedule of organizing the final round are to be announced. In the final round, conversation is tested and the testing consists of 3 parts:
1. Introduction of the competitors – 10 minutes
2. Description of a photograph and questions connected to the given photograph – 10 minutes
3. Conversation upon the given subject – 10 minutes

Note!
All participants of the competition accept the conditions of the Willkommen competition, the way of organizing and ranking students, participation, as well as the selection of prizes.
All private data of participants can be used only for the purposes of organizing the competition and will not be disclosed to a third party.
